Home Goods: Great Home Finds and Advice

Have you ever stumbled upon a fantastic find in the home section of TJ Maxx? Well, HomeGoods is an entire store dedicated to home accessories and décor in true TJ Maxx fashion. Normally when I hear people say, “Look what I found at HomeGoods,” I expect a lamp, a mirror or maybe bedding (my favorite). I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon design advice from Deborah Needleman on the website. Our favorite Wall St. Journal contributor and author of Domino: The Book of Decorating is continuing to make great design accessible to all. She has teamed up with HomesGoods to create StyleScope, a sort of personality test that helps you determine your personal design style.
The test is simple and takes only a few minutes to complete. The results page is broken down into sections. First, it defines your design style (according to the quiz, my style is Bohemian Casual). Next, it gives advice on putting your style to work. Great idea since what many of us need the most help with is the application. There are six complementary color choices offered as inspiration as well as ways of putting those colors to use. Finally, they direct you to your nearest HomeGoods store. What a clever idea.
I really like Deborah because she keeps finding ways to give us practical information for a comfortable, beautiful living space. As the founding editor-in chief of Domino, she inspired us all with the chic and livable homes featured in the magazine. No one was more disappointed than I when the magazine closed its operations. I am happy to see that she continues to find ways to share her passion.
Earlier this year I read a post from the Daily Imprint Blog about Needleman. When asked who she is inspired by, Needleman replied, “People with great style who live easily and happily with it…I am interested in style that is expansive, that makes lives more beautiful and the people in your life happier.” – We agree!
